I never thought I would see the day when the government would shut down churches in the United States making it illegal to gather. Shutting down churches by the government is a subject is for another day. But through this, River of Life is not just surviving, we are thriving.
I do not want to give Satan any more credit than he deserves but he is a deceiver, liar and murderer. Is Satan behind this COVID-19 as an opportunity to destroy the church? We know the church is one of Satan’s enemies he wants to destroy. No matter what Satan would try to use to hurt the church; Jesus will use it to grow and bless His church.
During this period, River of Life is not just surviving, but thriving. Yes, it is inconvenient, but we are reaching more people than I would have ever imagined each Sunday with the Gospel. In Facebook alone, we reached more than 500 people with last Sunday’s service and had over 200 people engaged in the service. If only one person gave their life to Jesus or rededicated their life to Jesus, this hardship is worth it. That number does not count how many watched it on our website each week.
Instead of the church shrinking and going away, churches are reaching more people on a typical Sunday by going live.
Glory to God, not only is River of Life alive and well, I see the same statistics coming from many other churches. We are reaching more people than ever before with the Gospel.
Are we looking for the positive through this or focusing on the negative? It is easy to focus on the negative. We cannot meet as we are accustomed. Many of us are following the Stay Home agenda and feel trapped in our own home. When will it be safe to go back to normal?
As for me, I am thriving, not just surviving. I am focusing on the positives. We are reaching more people with the Gospel than ever before. I have my health, a warm home, water, and food. I am safe and still being used by God.
